My first integrating to the subject was Roots Of The Western Tradition: A Short reputation of The Ancient World by C. It's a big assignment, But can be lots of fun. It's an exciting time to get mixed up in ancient world.
it's kind of old and arbitrary, But nehru's glimpses of world history is more or less fun.
If you might need a historical survey, I can't help but recommend the 12 volume "The Story of the world, By will, no doubt and Ariel Durant. The books were coded in the 1930s and 1940s, are usually a bit dated. but they're incredible scholarship, Broad looks at days gone by, And can often be found for some amount of money per volume at used book stores. i do believe "Our china Heritage, vol. John's going list. (And Will and Ariel Durant are upwards of "A bit outdated, Even when they were young, They were not exactly cuttingedge scholarship grant.)
if you need a good overview of history [And its effect on cities] my favorite is Flesh and Stone by Richard Sennett. starting with Ancient Greece, your way through Rome, Venice, spain, since US, It really is a substantial look at politics, Religion and commerce all through history. delicacies whole bibliography of what I have read, rrt is possible to email me.
Herotodus, a brief history. This chronicles the war between Athens and Sparta a great foundation on the various cultures of warring, But also this history lays the foot work for why and how the Western Cultures began.
following try The Aeneid by Virgil Aeneas, A trojan, And a small band of followers must set out to find a new homeland after the fall of Troy. Try the Fitzgerald translation not as literal, But a very good read.

Ditto which Republic, an extremely older book. The Republic is Plato's retelling of his conversations with Socrates about a utopic world. It's experienced, But not fantastic.
The Aeneid is a myth about the blocks of the Roman empire. It's different than the Illead and the Odyssey in that we know who wrote it Virgiland annotated versions can give you interesting insight oakleys outlet into the political and social causes of much of the action. oakleys online It's set concurrently, just the same as the Odyssey, But was written a couple of hundred or possibly thousand years later to create a fictional tie between the Roman empire and Greek Myth. It might give you understanding of how people lived, But it won't offer some help anything about history.
